The Wilson's Direct Motors & Tires Experience

I had a guy bring in his wife's car for a tire repair. He had asked us to check the tires. He thought they were ok but wanted our opinion because he wanted her to be safe. I took out the Opti-Tread reader & went around to all 4 of his tires, came back in & printed out the sheet. I explained to him that they were all down in the warning area of 4/32nds and how she has not only lost some of her traction but that it also reduces her stopping power. He had not thought of it that way, so we ordered 4 new tires & made her car safe again.

I had another guy bring in his wife's car & we measured the tires because he knew he needed 2 but thought the rear was ok. I performed an Opti-Tread inspection and it was the opposite. The rear was needing to be replaced badly. The front was down to 6/32nd but he could get a little more life out of those. I explained, the best tires needed to be on the rear so we put 2 new tires on the rear & rotated the rear tires up to the front to give him the safest solution until he buys the other two.

The Opti-Tread Tire Audit Report, I feel, gives the customer a picture that they can understand. They know it's not just a mechanic making up a story to try & get a sale.

A: "Definitely yes on both, when used on every car you catch things that the eye may not have. With the color report you're able to show how the tire is wearing or if it is worn out. To me that provides a trust in the shop. When you suggest new tires, they can see why. They don't look at you as if you're trying to just sell tires. Women especially understand better what you're saying & also have proof to show to husbands who have then called & said "get her some tires I didn't know they were that bad." I'm telling you it is a great tool & not just for sales but as an added service. Tires are not on most people's mind when they come in. With Opti-Tread I can do a quick inspection during an oil change & provide the customer with a printout showing them how they can save some money and why."
